Rievaulx Abbey – Column
Still battling against the weather at this point. Found a bit of shelter in the ruins and all I could really see was this column. Not quite finished as I did get quite bored drawing the straight lines.
Aside, Just noticed this is the 100th sketch on this blog!

A Couple Of Sketches from Italy

Firstly don’t think Canaletto has anything to worry about! These are a couple of sketches i did whilst in Italy in May. The first was from the hotel terrace in Sienna. There is a photo of the view Here. The photo doesnt do justice to the amount of greens that there were! definetly need to learn more shading techniques!

The second sketch is in Venice. Bit annoyed at this one because it started off well, but I then squashed the bridge on the right. If i had kept on going, this would of probably turned out all right. I think looking back at some of my other sketches. I have a fear of running out of paper. There is a photo of the location here.
And if you are interested few more photos of italy I took over Here
The Leeds Sketching group has gone horribly quite, which is a bit worrying. Might need some pulling from the ashes.
